2024-01-29

1. Look at the texture: Each piece of natural marble has a unique natural pattern and color.

2. Listen to the sound: Generally speaking, the knocking sound of good quality stone is crisp and pleasant.

3. Check the light transmittance: Natural marble has high light transmittance. Use a lighter or flashlight to illuminate the back of the marble to see that the light transmittance is high.

4. There is a simpler way to identify artificial and natural marble: add a few drops of dilute hydrochloric acid. Natural marble will foam violently, while artificial marble will foam weakly or even not at all.

3. Sandstone

Sandstone is a kind of sedimentary rock, which is mainly composed of sand grains bonded by glue. Most sandstones are composed of quartz or feldspar. Sandstone is highly granular, has a wavy texture on the surface, and has a soft and delicate texture. The color is the same as sand and can be any color. The most common ones are brown, yellow, red, gray and white.

4. Slate

Slate is a rock with a plate-like structure and basically no recrystallization. It is a metamorphic rock. The original rock is muddy, silty or neutral tuff, which can be peeled into thin slices along the direction of the plate. The color of slate changes depending on the impurities it contains. Iron-containing slate is red or yellow; carbon-containing slate is black or gray; calcium-containing slate will foam when exposed to hydrochloric acid, so it is generally named after its color, such as green slate. rock, black slate, calcareous slate.
